Christmas in Paris… reloaded (pt.1)

We are spending Christmas with our family in Paris once again. First when we landed and waited for our luggage, one bag had gone missing. It will most likely turn up and be delivered, and the bag only contained clothes, so it should be alright.

Today has, so far, been nice. We got up and had some breakfast, I ate a croissant.

After that I went to browse the shops, and found some nice things, but only bought one sweater (to use outside, since it is very warm here, and I brought a winter coat which is too warm). I reckon the sale will start in a few days, so better to shop then I think.

I’m somewhat in love with the shopping center here, it is so big, has everything, and was very well decorated.

I always get baffled by the selection in the stores here. From the local market:(this was only half of the shelf, as I couldn’t fit the entirety on my mobile phone camera – didn’t have my camera on me at the time).

Stay tuned for more stuff and pictures!

WTF Spotify?!

It seems Spotify got into bed with Facebook and decided to form a monogamous relationship with it.

Even though Facebook sleeps around with everyone, Spotify sticks around like an insecure and domesticated (insert appropriate animal here). Whoever decided to oblige people to use Facebook with Spotify is a retarded fraker. Even though a lot of people are using Facebook, doesn’t mean everyone are. And I in particular, don’t want to click on “private listening” every 6 hours. One would think that when I spend money on a product, I should be able to choose whether I want to integrate Facebook in it.

Now, I don’t have anything against Facebook. I use it a lot. But having to use either my Facebook account, or create a fake one, should be unnecessary. I would understand if this was obligatory for those only using the free version, but when you pay to use it, you should be able to not having to use your Facebook account to listen to music. I want what I pay for dammit – no advertising.

Some Spotify employees have posted on their forum when people have complained about this fact:

We’re constantly trying new things, always looking for feedback and we’re always going to listen to our users, making changes based on this feedback wherever we can

Well, Spotify, 3 months has passed, and people are pissed. I hope you are reading this, because I’m cancelling my subscription. There are other options around you know.

I espesially like this quote [1]:

You don’t need to connect to Facebook and if you do decide to, you can always control what you share and don’t share by changing your Spotify settings from the Preferences menu at any time.

If we don’t need to connect to Facebook, then what is the point of the forced integration?

Even though I created my account before you implemented this moronic “function”, it still makes it impossible for me to share Spotify with friends who do not have a Facebook account. You can throw out the “create a dummy account”-response as much as you like, but not everyone think that is ok.

Basically, I feel that you don’t have the right to invade my privacy when I pay good money to use your service, and I’m seriously questioning the legal aspect of forcing people to use another service, and only that service. Why have you not made the option of using Google+, Twitter or some other social media? I’m starting to wonder if Spotify receives money from Facebook for this, giving their contribution to creating new Facebook accounts. In turn Spotify gains loads of advertising through spamming on people’s accounts, especially if the private listening resets every 6 hours.

I’m quite glad that 1000+ people agree with me and are cancelling their subscriptions, in addition to loosing the potential customers that simply will not create Facebook accounts (yes, those people exist, even if you don’t admit it).

Good-bye “Facebook Music App”

Oh, and by the way. I like to be able to make my own choices on how to log in to the services I use, and forcing a spammy solution on your paying customers is not a great way to keep said customers, or gain new ones. I feel I could continue ranting about this for another wall-of-text, or two, but feel I’ve made my point.
